Intradermal injection essentials

Regardless of your experience, this eLearning provides healthcare professionals with the essential foundation knowledge needed when administering intradermal injections. Following its completion, we also recommend appropriate face-to face training to have a go at the practical skills required to perform injections independently. Upon completion you will be able to:
  • select the correct anatomical site for an intradermal injection and explain the rationale for this choice
  • identify appropriate equipment for an intradermal injection
  • outline the steps of correct intradermal injection technique
  • determine when an intradermal injection should, or should not, be repeated
  • understand the common and expected reactions that may occur following intradermal injection and formulate clear and effective aftercare advice
  • explain how to apply safe practice principles, including infection control and documentation.
Please allow 30 minutes to complete this course. You must achieve 100% on the quiz in order to pass this eLearning. If you do not pass after 3 attempts, we recommend you review the course before attempting the quiz again.
