Shoulder Injury Related to Vaccine Administration (SIRVA)

SIRVA is a rare but serious complication following inadvertent administration of a vaccine too high in the deltoid, or into the shoulder joint.

This eLearning has been designed for all healthcare professionals who are involved in the administration of vaccines. It can also act as a resource for anyone caring for a person with a confirmed or suspected SIRVA. It provides an opportunity to refreshconsolidate and evaluate immunisation knowledge and technical skills.

Upon completion you will be able to:

  • identify what SIRVA is and how to prevent it with correct vaccine administration
  • identify how SIRVA is diagnosed and treated
  • recognise anatomical landmarks used to identify correct injection sites
  • identify how to report SIRVA.

Please allow 30 minutes to complete this course. You must achieve 100% on the quiz in order to pass this eLearning. You have unlimited attempts.
