This course has been designed to demonstrate the safe preparation and storage of vaccines from multi-dose vials. At the completion of this course, the immunisation provider will be able to:

• Correctly prepare vaccines from multi-dose vials that require reconstitution
• Correctly prepare vaccines from multi-dose vials that do not require reconstitution
• Identify the principles of infection prevention and control required when accessing multi-dose vials
• Identify the importance of labelling and storage of multi-dose vials
• Understand the difference between an expiry date and a use by date

This course has been designed to provide an overview of the correct processes of immunisation. Following the completion of this course, the immunisation provider will be able to:

• Identify the principles of the cold chain
• Identify the importance of pre-immunisation screening and consent

• Identify the processes that reduce the risk of vaccine-related errors occurring

• Recognise the importance of an open disclosure discussion and providing support to all individuals involved
• Identify the underpinning concepts of open disclosure and the important steps involved in the process

This course has been designed to provide an overview of vaccines that are recommended in pregnancy and those that are contraindicated. At the completion of this course the immunisation provider will be able to:

• Identify which vaccines are recommended in pregnancy
• Identify the recommended timepoint for vaccines to be administered
• Identify which vaccines are contraindicated in pregnancy
• Identify the process to follow if a contraindicated vaccine is inadvertently administered during pregnancy
